Highlights from the Auckland Art Show 2023

Ninette Kruger Metal Art's Debut at the Auckland Art Show

My First National Art Show!

I'm so grateful to have been selected as one of the 120 New Zealand artists to exhibit at the Auckland Art Show.

The art was exceptional and I got to meet some of New Zealand's top artists, which was quite surreal...

We had the opening night on Thursday 19 May 2023 at The Cloud, a fabulous exhibition venue that has become a landmark on Queens Wharf, along Auckland’s waterfront.

What an awesome experience this was! Kate, John and their Team put together a magnificent show. I admire the team’s friendly approach and great organisation, it’s been a huge privilege to be part of the show.

Highlights from the show

In this video, I share some photos of the venue before our art was hung, some snippets from

the opening night, and some images of people interacting with my art.

Connecting with talented New Zealand Artists

I had the great privilege to finally get to meet the super talented Anna Mollekin, with whom I have done art collaborations since 2020. We have worked together on a pewter Kiwi, 2 x Tui's and a Fantail, as well as a smaller range of copper birds.

I met Adelien from Adelien's Art, a fellow South African, and got to see my friend, artist Riss Moore.

Their support and encouragement mean the world to me!

Gorgeous views from my Apartment

I stayed in a gorgeous apartment on the Princess Wharf, generously sponsored by Jarden Investments' Tauranga Office.

It is such an honor to have my work displayed in their offices and to have them support my artistic career.

I had gorgeous views over the Queen's Wharf, the Cloud, and Jarden's Auckland offices for the duration of my stay

Visitors enjoying my work

It was so lovely to meet so many art lovers and collectors from across New Zealand, and I received wonderful feedback on my work!

The whales , sea turtle, Manta ray and Butterfly were the stars of the show at my booth and got so much attention and love.

Most visitors said they had never seen anything like it, and they really enjoyed learning more about my process and medium. I did live art demos throughout the show and will share photos of the whale I started at the show shortly.

What visitors enjoyed most was the tactile nature of my work and the fact that they were allowed to touch it!
This led to wonderful conversations and I thoroughly enjoyed connecting with art lovers this way.

Forming new connections

To all the wonderfully talented artists I met over the weekend, I am honoured to have met you, to see your skill and talent on display, and to learn from each of you.

It was wonderful meeting gallery owners and interior designers from across New Zealand, and I'm excited to see what the future holds!
